"Three B's of Ventilation"
BREATHING, refers to people and pets, which consume oxygen and breathe out
carbon dioxide and moisture. Without a supply of re-freshed air, the air quality
will quickly deteriorate.
BURNING, refers to all the fuel- burning appliances such as the furnace, water
heater, fireplace, woodstove, cookstove, and indoor barbecue. All of these
appliances burn up the oxygen in the air reducing the amount available for breathing.
A supply of fresh air is essential.
BLOWING, refers to all of the appliances that blow air out of the home. These are the
bathroom fans, central vacuum, range hood, window fan, indoor barbecue and of course
the clothes dryer.
Some of these fans are strong enough to reverse the flow in a chimney; link a few
together and they will certainly reverse the flow pulling smoke out of a fireplace
or furnace chimney.
Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas created by burning fuel inefficiently.
It is neither seen nor smelled but is highly toxic and is deadly even in small amounts.
An ENERGYTIGHT home will not have the constant supply of oxygen needed to support
an efficient combustion process.
A Plusaire ventilation system will constantly add the oxygen that is lacking.
Few people realize that their fireplace backdrafts but freely admit to that romantic
woodsy smell. That woodsy smell turns into a nasty creosote smell in the early
hours of the morning.
If you don't have a PLUSAIRE, how does the air get in?
It doesen't and unequal air pressure, stale and/or polluted air results!
The Consumer Federation of America, cites that indoor air
pollution is responsible for up to 50% THE CHIMNEY SWEEP
